About Us

The Governmental Accounting Forum of Latin America - FOCAL is a permanent, autonomous, apolitical and non-profit working meeting, whose objective is to become a space for analysis, studies, reflection and exchange of experiences, knowledge and good practices, for the development of accounting models of a professional and technical nature.
This Forum was created during the "First Meeting of Governmental Offices of Latin America", held on 17, 18 and 19 November 2014, in the city of Santiago de Chile.
Purpose
The ultimate goal of FOCAL is to promote the development and strengthening of public accounting as a language of transparency and accountability for the financial administration of Latin American countries for greater fiscal transparency.
Objective
The overall objective of FOCAL is to promote throughout the agencies responsible for governmental accounting the cooperation among participants, and to serve as a framework for the exchange of experiences on issues that build and strengthen capacities in accounting, budget execution and financial information, all this in order to contribute to transparency, efficiency and effectiveness of the public machinery of each country, and the participation of qualified and technical citizens within a frame of reference of good practices.
The specific objectives to be carried for each of the members countries are:
1. To have access to information related to public accounting regulation;
2.To promote efficiency and effectiveness in the processes of public accounting regulation;
3. Exchange experiences of the regulatory processes of public accounting;

The specific objectives are:

1. Provide and have access to information related to public accounting regulation in the countries in which government accountants are members of the Forum;
2. To promote efficiency and efficiency in the processes of public accounting regulation in each of the member countries of FOCAL;
3. Exchange experiences of the regulatory processes of public accounting carried out in FOCAL member countries;
